Step‑by‑Step: Reactivate Your Original Account

  1. Try signing in with your old credentials. If the account is Closed or Inactive, Upwork typically emails a reactivation link.
  2. No access to the old email? Open a support ticket and explain the situation. Be ready to verify your identity.
  3. Created a new account already? Tell Support you want to restore the old one and you consent to closing the new account if required.
  4. Include helpful details in your ticket: old email/username, approximate last login, past contracts, and any other identifying info.

Important Policy Notes

One person, one account: Upwork allows only a single account per individual. Creating a second account can lead to suspension of both accounts. If you made a new one, work with Support to restore the original and resolve the duplicate.

Permanent suspensions: If your old account was permanently suspended for Terms of Service violations, reactivation may not be possible.

Do I Need Upwork Pro to Contact Support?

No. There’s no requirement to subscribe to Pro (or any paid plan) to contact Support or request account reactivation. The recovery process is available via the Help Center and standard support channels.
